Introduction to Sociology / Q&A (11/28) / Bokyung Kim

Q1. Is our modern world more peaceful than the past? Can we think of some examples or contradictions?

A1. I think modern society is more peaceful than in the past. Because modern society has fewer wars and conflicts than the past. People also try to live together. As an example, there were South and North Korea, which had many conflicts in the past. They share economic and military talks and try to resolve conflict peacefully.

Q2. What are some of the issues that modern Korean social movements are concerned about?

A2. I think feminism is a problem that is important in Korea nowadays. Many women are working hard to find the rights of women against men's centrism and realize gender equality. Women publish books and do campaigns for them.
