1. SUMMARY
It is about collective behavior. Collective behavior refers to social processes and events that emerge in a voluntary manner that does not reflect the existing social structure. Thus, collective behavior appears to be either rebellious or deviant.
Collective behavior and group behavior have different meanings.Collective behavior includes short-term social interactions, but group behavior lasts longer. Also, there is no definite social boundary of collective behavior, so everyone can be a member of the group. Collective behavior has a weak norm, but groups are more powerful and traditional.
The reason why people act collective behavior is that they think that studying collective behavior can predict people's behavior. They also thought they could change social factors by studying collective behavior.
A crowd is a group of people who share the purpose of sharing their purpose, intent, and influence. The crowd can be divided into four types : casual, conventional, expressive and acting. Therefore, it is a crowd of people in the shopping mall, political community meetings organized by political leaders, fans gathered at concerts. The crowds behavior is not always near right. Like the diffuse crowd, the emergence of mass media has resulted in more widespread outbreaks of mass media.
Panic refers to the sudden fear of a group of people. For example, a moral panic is a mass movement resulting from the idea that any minority group or subculture poses a threat to society. Usually it starts with media coverage and is expressed in anger rather than fear.
Riots mean anarchy caused by sudden violence and vandalism. An individual can create a riot, but is generally used as a tool to create and express dissent.
2. what was interesting
People say that the diffuse collective behavior is caused by the influence of mass media. It was once again surprised and interesting that mass media had changed and influenced much of society than thought.
3. Discussion
I wonder what lies behind the rumors of the inaccuracies of the rumor, and the root of the rumor spreading widely and believing it is true.
Inaccurate rumors are often widespread. For example, natural disasters or sudden events, such as earthquakes or destruction of the Earth, occur. People are caught up in anxiety, easily accepting testimonies and telling others that testimonials will soon spread. So unfounded rumors spread quickly.
