Samsung Electronics is one of the most famous companies in the world. And it also be evaluated that it has the most influential power in Korea. If the Internet says 'Samsung bankruptcy', many posts are searched, 'If Samsung Electronics goes bankrupt, the Korean economy shakes'.
According to Bloomberg and the International Monetary Fund, the ratio of Samsung Electronics' sales to Korea's GDP is 13.83%, which is higher than that of other countries.
As you can see from the figures, Samsung has a big influence on Korea. So people came to think that Samsung and Korea are connected, and when Samsung fell, they thought the Korean economy would be ruined.
If so, is Samsung really going bankrupt if Korea goes bankrupt?
There is some analysis that says no. The Nokia in Finland is the representative example that the economy of the company does not have a big impact on the country. Nokia was a very first-class company, accounting for 3.8% of Finnish GDP. The world has also referred to Finland as a single corporate economic system. The Nokia has not been able to keep up with the times, and after the launch of smartphones, it started to fail. People thought that the decline of Nokia would lead to a decline in the Finnish economy, but Finland was not hurt as they thought. As the start-up entrepreneurial boom arose and the number of SMEs grew, Finland was able to escape the economic turmoil. Because of the case in Finland, I think there are many start-ups in Korea, so even if Samsung Electronics goes bankrupt, the Korean economy is unlikely to collapse.
