1. Summary

This writing talks about demography. It includes research on the size, structure and distribution of the population and population changes due to birth, death, migration and aging. The reason for studying demography is to explain many sociological phenomena. Research on human populations is highly relevant to social change. The development of demography began in the 18th century and most modern census began in the late 18th century. Demography uses large, long-term data such as births, deaths, and marriage registrations. The most important demographic indicators are the birth rate and the mortality rate. Fertility and reproduction-related demographic measures include crude birth rate, general fertility rate and so on. In addition, alternative levels of fertility and female education levels are linked to fertility and fertility rates. Population statistics for mortality include crude mortality, infant mortality, and life expectancy. Factors related to longevity include education, wealth, race, the ability to slow down satisfaction, large social networks, and so on. Demographic transition accounts for the transition from high birth rates, low death rates to low birth rates. Thomas Malthus expressed concern about population overcrowding and argued that the population should be controlled through moral suppression. There is a theory that the number of population varies depending on the amount of food. Overpopulation causes child poverty, high birth rates, shortened life expectancy, and so on. There are natural ways such as disease and hunger, and ways to develop the economy as a way to overcome the overpopulation. Urbanization is the physical growth of urban areas.

2. Interesting point

I read this writing and became interested in overpopulation. The graph of population growth in developing countries was very interesting. It shows that most of today's world population growth occurs in underdeveloped countries. I have the same idea as thomas Malthus. I think that population overcrowding is a problem to be solved in our society. We should think more seriously about how to overcome the overpopulation. Also, I learned how demographics is related to our social phenomena. I am delighted to learn more about demography through this writing.

3. Discussin point

This writing presents natural ways such as hunger and disease and economic development as a way to overcome the overpopulation. Of these two methods, what do you think is more effective? Do you think there is another better way? I wonder what you think.
