Summary)

What is a family? If the family is confined to genetically related individuals, there are too many variables to be created. It is difficult to define exactly what a family is today because there are so many family transformations today. And society is accepting more and more family forms. Therefore, families vary in form and function.
Depending on the culture, the family form varies greatly around the world. The most common family form in the Western world is monogamy. However, there is also a system of polygamy which is a common family structure. The attitudes to cognitive love also depend on the culture. While many people tend to develop relationships with their social group members, Yazidi in northern Iraq strictly prohibits clan marriages.
The function of a family can be divided into two categories: a birth family and an unproductive family. Childbirth families play a role in producing and socializing children. Non-productive families play a role in promoting social, economic, emotional and interpersonal support networks, combining resources for financial gain, and providing stability.
The family is constantly changing. One of the recent trends showing the changing nature of families is the rise in the penetration of single parents or single parents. In the 1950s, most people thought that a single-parent household was "immoral", but the beliefs of 1978 and much disappeared. The legal reforms of the 1960s and 1970s eliminated the distinction between "legal" and "illegal" and expanded the rights of non-married children and unwed mothers.
Another example showing that a family is changing is cohabitation. Cohabitation is an intimate relationship that includes normal residence and exists without the benefit of legal, cultural, or religious sanctions. In 2005, the Census Bureau reported more than 1,000 percent of cohabiting couples when compared to 1960 when there were 435,000 couples. More than half of American couples lived together for at least a short time before they walked through the aisle. It consists of 21% of Finnish families living together. In the UK, 25% of children are born to a living partner. In France, as of 1999, 17.5% of couples are living together. Thus, it can be seen that couples living together today have increased.
And the view of homosexuality has changed. Homosexuality has existed for thousands of years, but formal marriage between gay / lesbian partners is a relatively recent phenomenon.
So we can not accurately define the family, and we can see that the family is constantly changing.

New/Interesting things I learned)

I was interested in the diversity of the family's form and function, and the constantly changing pattern of the family. Among them gay marriage was interesting. I thought that children who grew up in a homosexual marriage home would be more likely to be homosexual, but this was not the right answer. Children born in same-sex households are less likely to become homosexual than children born to heterosexuals. This was interesting.
It is interesting that the number of couples living together without marriage is increasing. They live in a way to test compatibility before marriage, to secure financial security, or because they want to marry when same-sex marriage and / or polyamory is not lawful, or to avoid divorce with someone before marriage. I have noticed that there are a growing number of couples living together for various reasons, and I have learned the strengths and weaknesses of cohabitation. And I had time to think about living together.

Do you think that premarital life is bad?
Pre-marriage is to live together before marriage and think about whether you can marry this person. The past family system has changed from a strict and rigid structure like a large family to a flexible and diversified structure with nuclear family, one family, legal marriage, and de facto family.
Couples who live together in the same age are increasing. In Korea, too, couples living together are increasing. People who live together often say they agree to live together because they can recognize their partner before marriage. However, our perception of living together is still not good.
However, I think that it will be recognized as a family system ultimately.
What do you think about living together? I would like to discuss it together.
