Introduction to Sociology/Demography/Geonwoo Lee

1.summary

This text is related to demographics. Tools are needed to analyze sociological phenomena. One of those tools is demography. Demographics studies the size and distribution of populations and includes how populations change over time through birth and death. This text then describes various sociological phenomena that can be analyzed demographically. Overpopulation, urbanization.

2.interesting

Urbanization is interesting. Urbanization is the movement of people from rural to urban areas for jobs and better living standards. What is interesting is that the living standards of all those who move to the city do not rise. The more people there are, the greater the competition, and the people who are pushed out of the competition can not escape the slums. But people are moving to cities as time goes by, and that number is increasing.

3.discussion point

As I said before, there are many people who have moved to the city and their living standards do not rise. Of course this is a personal problem. If you lack your ability, you will be out of competition and lag behind. So the government is running a welfare policy for them. It is a way to pay the minimum basic living. But this is a short-term solution and not a long-term solution. So, in the long run, I would like to think about how the country can help them.
