1.Summary
Aging is a biological and sociological process that humans experience and achieve social maturity.
Human life is divided into infants, toddlers, youth, middle-aged and old. This distinction is somewhat arbitrary, but generally reflects a certain degree of similarity.
The aging process is a biological process, but the way people and cultures interpret their age is varies. In Western societies, young people are considered " older " at a much younger age than the Eastern Society. The same goes for young people. Not only women but also men have significant spending on makeup and surgery to hide signs of aging. Ironically, there is a reverse way for teens to look old. In a society where life expectancy is relatively short or premature death proportion is high, a typical middle-aged woman can be considered as an elderly man. On the other hand, in a society where average life expectancy is long and premature death rates are low, the middle-aged woman is still considered young.
Discrimination against ageism is mainly aimed at youth and senior.
Most people know about ageism, but do not know discrimination of young people. they don't have voting rights, no public office, decision to marry. These restrictions hinge upon the prejudice that young people lack the maturity needed to make important decisions.
Discrimination against young people is mainly limited to behavioral restrictions, but ageism reaches to the realm of physical abuse from behavioral limitations. Elder abuse is a serious social problem in the United States. in addition to, There is a strong stereotype about older people. One of them is that older adults tend to be inflexible and to be conservative. With the introduction of social security in the United States, the rate of poverty in the United States dropped dramatically. Despite these successes, the results led to the increase in poverty among the aged under 18. Conflict theory provides a clear theoretical rationale for explaining this. If a limited resource is moved into a group, it must be imported from another group. Social Security, considered a highly successful program to combat poverty, is currently facing many problems.
Men tend to act more dangerously than women and it reduce men's average life expectancy. Also, women's biological factors keep women's heart healthy and allow women to live longer than men.
Black people are more likely to be physically and psychologically abused. They also face more financial exploitation than whites. In addition, minority citizens generally have low educational standards and fewer financial resources.
Across the United States, older people are not evenly distributed. The elderly are concentrated in the Midwest and southern regions, especially in the Florida region. Because young people are looking for jobs outside the Midwest.
In most countries, the average life expectancy of the population is increasing. However, the pace of aging in the world is not consistent, and average life expectancy of some countries tend to decrease due to AIDS.
2.Interesting
I also encountered the concept of youth discrimination. I just thought rthe estrictions imposed upon youth are natural, did not think it could be a form of discrimination.
Obviously, they may be young, but their sense of discretion and reason can not be different with most adults. It could be absurd and discriminatory to put the same restrictions on everyone with age. However, we can not ignore the influence of aging. Keeping some restrictions on young people is not binding upon them, but protecting them. Therefore, I would like to say that those factors called discrimination are not necessarily discriminatory.
3.Discussion
Human average life expectancy is increasing globally. Well-founded food and advanced medical systems have created the present phenomenon. In the future, the average life expectancy of mankind will be 100 years old. However, this story is true of only a few developed countries. Also, the average life expectancy of humans is not very positive. In the developing world, more babies would be born consistantly, on the other hand, no one dies in developed countries. The population will gradually become saturated. Population saturation causes food shortages and serious environmental pollution. Is the average life expectancy of mankind a blessing?
