Introduction to Sociology / Aging / SUBIN KIM

1. SUMMARY
Aging is the maturing of human beings in biological and social studies. Thus, depending on age, different outcomes are created depending on which society experiences. In general, human life is divided into a variety of words such as Infancy, Toddler, Childhood, Adolescence, Young adult, Prime Adulthood, Middle Age, Old Age, etc. The interpretation of aging varies from society to age, and in Eastern countries, it tends to interpret aging as a process of wisdom rather than in the west. Also, depending on the average age of life, it is interpreted differently as middle-aged adults and older adults alike.
Old people are often discriminated against because they are older. Adolescents are often limited by age, but they start from lack of maturity differently from old man.
An old man is generally among the poorer classes. However, the introduction of the Social Security system has greatly eased the poor. However, the social security system is stuck in crisis due to the lack of surplus.
Also, for many reasons, women tend to live longer than men. Because of this, women are more likely to be poorer than men.

2. what was interesting
I was surprised to learn that it is not merely biologically accessible about aging, but also socially. I think it is a reflection of the meaning of this social aging society that translates the wisdom of wisdom into aging in the East rather than the West. Of course, there is a fundamental effect on the confucian ideas, but it seemed better not to look at aging as "an aging process. "

3. Discussion
There are many cases in society that conflict with the elderly. In particular, controversy over whether to give voting rights to elderly people, who have become clouded by judgement due to aging, continues to stir up controversy. What do you think about the idea of having a voting rights of the elderly?

Comments

  1. Why do you think a child is not given the right to vote? I think that the children will do something reckless. Like this, I think this is a similar example to a child. It is evil to vote in a place where you do not have a certain standard. Therefore, I think that the voting right should be given only to the elderly who have a certain level of sense.
