Currently, Sexual Discrimination of Employment in South Korea
According to the article in
September 2017, Korea's female employment rate is 55.7 percent, lower than the
OECD average (58.6%). The employment rate gap between males and females stands
at 20 percent. Moreover, according to research by the Korean Women’s Development Institute of
Research in November 2017, administrative position
women at public institutions and businesses
at a minimum of 2.9 percent were at the lowest rate, most companies failed to
reach 20 percent. It is
shocking that public institutions are showing signs of sexual discrimination at
employment as well. The main reason of this gap is that it is difficult to
return to work after childbirth.
