Introduction to Sociology/The Causes of War/Dayoung Lee

1.Summary
Why does war happen? War happens despite the fact that many people do not want it. This article introduces theories for explaining war.
This article contains an explanation of each of the theories of war. Psychological theory suggests that the reason for the outbreak of war is inherent violence in men. Their repressed feelings are expressed in the form of war. This theory, however, does not explain when and how war occurs. If human psychology is unchanged, these changes are contradictory. On the other hand, anthropologists take a different viewpoint. They see that war is culturally learned, not outbreak for natural reasons. Sociology has long been concerned about the origins of war. Many theories have evolved and there are many contradictions. Sociologists have divided types to get better war correlations, but the results have been divergent. Information theory argues that the cause of war is caused by a lack of information. Economic theory argues that war can be seen as a result of economic competition in a confused and competitive international system. War begins with new markets, natural resources, and the pursuit of wealth.

2.Newly learned/interesting
It was interesting that the approach to war varied. It is interesting that scholars discuss what war is and why it occurs in various perspectives. Depending on which approach is taken, opinions are divided and explained in a different way. Throughout the reading, it was good to be able to compare and contrast the different theories with a focus on the content of each theory.

3.Discussion
Why is war happening? I have come across a variety of theories, but my question of war has yet to be completely resolved. I would like to discuss this point with a more diverse perspective. In fact, I think it is natural for opinions to be disagreeable depending on what aspect we are looking at. So many different theories exist, and the supporting arguments are seen. Therefore, we can not explain specific reasons for the outbreak of war. I just want to make my thoughts richer by putting together the opinions of others.
In addition to the theories mentioned in this article, I would like to discuss what is the root cause of the war and what, if anything, could explain its definition.
