1. Summary

Stratification refers to the hierarchical arrangement of people in a society. When stratifying people, the criterion can be an economic factor or a political factor. Stratification can be a sort of discrimination in sharing people. The reasons for this inequality are as follows. First, the rich and the strong protect the system of inequality. Second, culture teaches acceptance of inequality. Third, people can accept their position in society. Finally, police, courts, etc. also protect the system of inequality.

Stratification also has a dominant viewpoint. The first is structural functionalism. According to this theory, stratification and inequality are inevitable and help to provide stability to society. The second is the collision theory which claims that stratification is dysfunctional and harmful to society.

2. New learning / What was interesting

It has always been unconditionally negative that it leads to social inequality. However, from the viewpoint of functionalism, it was interested to see that stratification that causes social inequality positively in terms of social stability.

3. Discussion

Anyone who belongs to a higher class will want to maintain that status. I want to ask your thoughts. What do you do when you say that you belong to the highest class of the hierarchy and you have the option to share or to have your wealth and authority? Will you give back to society for all people's equity, or will you still maintain your authority?

Comments

  1. As for your question, I divided my answer into two cases. I will return all of my things to society for equity if I were born in the upper class. I do not think that the property or reputation I have inherited is entirely mine. I think it is right to give back to society because it is given randomly at birth. But if I work hard to have abilities, fortune, profession, and reputation, I will not give it all back because I think it is mine. But I am thinking of reducing some.

  2. It is not easy to share my wealth and authority with others. However, I think it is necessary to eliminate social inequality and distribute wealth and authority so that everybody can take the opportunity. So I'm going to share wealth and authority with the people who don't have wealth and authority.

  3. I think I should return my authority to people again. Of course, it does not give everything but it gives a certain amount. Because I have tried and worked hard until I got the authority, but the school and other societies have helped me, so I think if I think about that part, I should return my authority back to society. In addition
If I live by helping others, I am blessed.
