1. Summary
This text tell us about stratification. Stratification means the hierarchical arrangement of people in society. Stratification has existed for a long time and have an effect on our lives. Maw Weber define someone's social class or social status based on power, property, prestige. Also there are explanation about origins of inequality, private property, persistence of inequality, and insights into this phenomenon(structural-functionalism and conflict theories), causes and consequences of inequalities, three levels of stratification(micro-meso-macro).
2. What was interesting
I have some interest in social inequality when I read something like a newspaper article. So this time I read this text, it was something interesting to me. And I think I could have thought about it more deeply by reading this text. And it was also interesting that I think social inequality is bad, but from the standpoint of functionalism, stratification and inequalities are inevitable and beneficial to society. After reading Structural-Functionalism on Stratification part, I think this is logical and reasonable.
3. Discussion point
I think there are some people who think social inequality is a negative and bad thing like me before reading this text, but I think social inequality is as stated in the text, this is inevitable and beneficial to our society. I don't blame them or force them to agree with me, and if there are such people, I just want to know why they think so.
