Introduction to Sociology/Stratification/yerim park

1.Summary

Layering is a hierarchical arrangement of people in society. Especially economic stratification is overall, which is formed by the unbalanced distribution of stable goods. There are various stratifications in society, and the existence of these stratifications is due to economic and political causes.
Many scholars have studied the cause analysis.
Weber analyzed the stratification in three aspects (class, position, party). These characteristics are combined to represent the socio-economic status of someone.Marx is seeking the cause of stratification in capitalism. According to him, the group that owns the means of production becomes the ruling class. A class that does not belong to the class is a dominant class. Capitalism will further polarize the disparity of this class, and the ruling class will further exploit the dominated class.

The point of view of social stratification phenomenon is remarkably different from the viewpoint of functionalism and conflict theory. It is inevitable from the functional point of view and seems to be a natural phenomenon with the pure function of motivation. On the other hand, from the conflict point of view, However, it is not clear that social stratification is deepening. Therefore, in almost all countries, efforts have been made to change the hierarchy from a pyramid structure to a diamond-like structure in order to mitigate social stratification phenomenon, and there is a risk that Korea is moving to a pyramid hierarchy after IMF. In order to expand the social safety net, Korea need to strengthen the middle class, and I think that it is necessary to build an open social structure, education support and national consensus.
