1. summary

 Social activism means communities of people who share the same goals in society. Usually, social movements are divided into four categories. Democracy, labor movement, ecology movement, peace movement. Aberle divided the social movements into four categories according to two criteria.

Blumer, Marcus, and Tilly divided the steps of the social movement into five stages. There are various theories explaining social movements. There are Deprivation Theory, Mass-Society Theory, Structural-Strain Theory, Resource-Mobilization Theory, Political Process Theory, Culture Theory. There are many social movements in the world.


2. Interesting point
 I learned that sociologists are studying social movements in detail in social studies. I have newly learned the kinds and phases of social movements.


3. Discussion point
 Social movements are not always done in a peaceful manner. How should society solve this when social movements are conducted in an unethical manner?
