Social movement is a social alliance of people who have common interests. Social movements and SMO are distinguished. For example, social movements are organized systematically, whereas SMO forms a part of a specific social movement. Deprivation theory, mass social theory, and Structural-Strain theory is one of example theories of social movement. Explanation of some social movement theory, Deprivation theory argues that people who are deprivated resource organize social movements to improve their status however, this theory have some problem. Mass-Social theory (not many people support) claims that some people who are not are not belong to large society have a sense of belonging.

It was very interesting point in Resource-Mobilization Theory, to succeed social movements supporter of resource-mobilization theory stress the importance of resources such as knowledge, money, labor. In addition, it was impressive to place importance on the network between members of social movement.

Can the candlelight protest last year be seen as a social movement?
If so, what other social movements can we see in our country?
There is a representative democratic uprising in 5.18. On May 18, 1980, it was a popular movement that condemned the conscription of the new government in the Gwangju and Jeonnam districts and demanded the realization of democracy. It was a great social movement that helped Korea to approach democracy.
ReplyDeleteThe june democratic revolution is the example. On June 1987, counter to Junduhwan's government, it was the nationwide democratic movement. Result of this movement, military dictatorship was finished and institutional democracy was recovered.
