1. Summary


Both Gender and Sex are translated into the word ‘ () ’ in Korean. However, this text explains the difference between the two word. Gender is a sex of sociocultural meaning. Since long ago, the traditional gender characteristics have been hardened that women have passive, sensitive, emotional characteristics and men have active, insensitive, and rational characteristics. This is known as gender. On the other hand, sex refers to biological sex. A person with a XX chromosome is a female, and a person with XY chromosomes is a man. This is known as sex.


2. What was interesting/What did you learn

Before I saw this text, I didn't know the difference between genders and sex. Simply, I thought both words were meant to be ‘ () ’. But when I saw this text, I realized that gender and sex viewed the word from different perspectives. It is impressive that sociocultural gender and biological sex are different.


3. Discussion Point

Both gender and sex classify the equivalent human beings in different ways. Why did we divide human into men and women? How does gender exist?
