Q. Is this ranking a sign of a problem that should be adressed?
What do you think about the issue of gender inequality in Korea?

A. I think Korea 's sexual inequality problem is serious. In Korea, there are many companies that employ men preferentially when hiring employees. Therefore, there are many jobs that have gender limitations. There are also many problems of sex inequality in household chores. Usually women tend to take care of housework. And people tend to unconsciously make a lot of discriminatory remarks. For example, there is the word "woman doctor" and "police", but there is no saying "male doctor" or "police". So we need to find a solution to this problem.

Q. Why fewer women enroll in college/university in Korea than men?

A. In past Korean society, women tend not to go to college because they tend to do household chores rather than enter into society. However, the current Korean society has almost disappeared that women should not enter society as in the past. I think that the reason why the female university entrance rate is lower than male is because the female population is small.

Q. To resolve gender inequality what kind of changes are needed?

A. Early education is important to address gender inequality. To prevent gender stereotypes, parents should try to share housework and not make sexist comments when a child is young. And companies must hire employees without gender discrimination.
