Introduction to Sociology/ Conflict Theory /Cho ji won

1.Summary
The basic premise of conflict theory is that individuals within a society exist as a group and have limited resources available to them. Individuals struggle to have limited resources and the resulting conflict is inevitable. The consequences of such conflicts are manifested by changes in institutions and societies.
Theories that are supposed to construct conflict theory include interaction, change, competition, structural inequality, degree of inequality, and revolution. These theories commonly say that inequalities and conflicts occur naturally in groups and individuals and that a greater range of conflicts of revolution must occur in order to overcome them.
I will summarize the frequently used terms in conflict theory. First, class conflicts. Class conflict refers to the struggle between groups in different classes in society. Here, class refers to the social class and is largely divided into means of production (economy) or relationship of power, prestige and wealth. Next, ideology is a belief that justifies the contents agreed in society. Social consensus, however, is commonly used as a consensus by the authorities rather than the consensus of all the members of society. Other terms include deviance, proletariat, brujoua, and capitalism. Deviation is resistance by the dominant norm. The proletariat and the bourgeoisie are the class divided by capital, the proletariat refers to the status of the worker without means of production, and the bourgeoisie refers to the capitalist status with means of production. Capitalism refers to an economic system that creates benefits through the possession of personal means and goods of the means of production.
The propositions to support conflict theory were made through many scholars and theories. Examples include 'Marx' who saw competition through means of production, 'Weber' which gave a wider perspective on struggle, 'Gumplowicz' which saw conflict theory through nation state and individual. 'Mills', which focuses on the struggle between the Alates and those of a lower class, and the Women's Collision Theory, Post-colonialism, and World System Theory.
The origins of conflict have arisen in both East and West, and have occurred long ago in antiquity. Hanbiza in the East and Polybius in the West are the beginning of the conflict theory. Since then, many philosophers have developed this kind of conflict theory. Typical scholars include Marx and Mills.
The objects in which conflict theory is mainly used in modern times are related to unequal social stratification, inequality of hatching power, drugs and crime.

2.What was interested?
Conflict theory is an integral part of learning sociology. I have learned sociology for three years and have been studying the theory of conflict for some time. Therefore, there was no difficulty in understanding the contents of this article, and most of the contents were knowledge. But some of the content made me realize the new facts. As I read this article, I first learned of a scholar named 'Gumplowicz' who told the theory that society evolved from war and conquest. I also learned that Hanbiza's contents became the beginning of conflict theory because I learned mainly about Western scholars. These things were interesting.

3.Discussion point
The theory that is spoken with conflict theory is functional theory. Functional theory is a theory that assumes that society functions functionally. However, actual society is dominated by inequality. This is because the power difference of force is clearly present. Both functionalism and conflict theory are used to view society in order to broaden the diversity of viewpoints and the scope of thinking, but I think that conflict theory is more appropriate to explain the present unequal society. However, inequality in society can not be eliminated as it can explain inequality. To get rid of this unequal figure, conflict theory says we need greater range of revolutions. So what is the revolution in reality?
