Introduction to Sociology/Politics/doeun lee

1.     Summary

Politics is a process where people make social and economic decisions. In politics, power allows distribution of public resources, such as workforce. Authority differs from power. Authority means a claim of legitimacy, the justification and right to exercise power. Authority was divided from rational-legal authority, traditional authority, charismatic authority for Max. Since the power of these powers is mostly the government, the government has the authority to enforce the way people behave. This also leads to violence.

2.     New/Interesting things I learned

Theocracy is very interesting. I learned this the first time this time. I didn't know that God was a government that was previously recognized as the nation's top ruler. The concept itself seems to be interesting and wanting to know more. Also, I was interested in all kinds of political system.

3.     Discussion point

I agree Young People is much less likely to vote than older people. I don't understand why young people who will lead the new generation don't pay much attention to vote. Voting is a force for us. As a result, we will have to worry about solving this problem as a social student. Why is youth not interested in voting? How do I handle it? I want to discuss the matter with the students.

Comments

  1. I think that the reason why young people do not vote is because of distrust of politics and lack of political education in our country. In order to change these young people, we have to show that there can be a change in politics when we vote. And we should educate the importance of participating in politics since the early years.

  2. I think young people are not aware of the importance of voting. The main reason is that politicians' commitments are not realized properly. So young people seem to think that voting days are simply days off. The flower of democracy is a vote. But if there is no change through voting, the turnout of young people will not rise.
