Introduction to Sociology / Q&A(10/17) / Mingyeong Kim
Q. In modern democracy really “the will of
the people”?
A : I think modern democracy comes from
people's will. First of all, the meaning of democracy itself means that the
sovereignty belongs to the people and that the people are the owners of the
state. There are also cases where public opinion is gathered or a referendum is
held when a system is implemented in modern society. In addition, the
president, who is the representative of the democratic state, is elected by the
votes of the people. This is also due to the will of the people, and I think
that modern democracy depends on the will of the people.
