A broad view of society

 

There are many scholars who advocate various theories in sociology.

Why should we pay attention to these theories?

A linked article presents several theories that we need to focus on.

I'm going to summarize these things through this article.

Here are seven theories that I met in this script.

 

Functionalism sees society as an organism.

Conflict theory sees social conflict as the driving force of social change!

Symbolic interaction theory is a theoretical approach to understanding the relationship between human beings and society. There is also a role theory that analyzes the relationship between status and role ,and role and role centering on the status of individuals.

 

We have also discussed about social constructivism that studies how social reality and reality are understood, created and developed by members of society.

In the feminist theory section, we can practice, looking at feminism based on various theories. I could look at four aspects of feminism, Marxist feminism, radicalism, separatism, cultural feminism, and black feminism.

 

Finally, we learned about an integrated approach that shows how different elements work together to influence society and behavior.
 

I have met with a variety of ways to look at society from various perspectives.

The reason why we need these various theories is that we need different perspectives in practically applying to our lives. When dealing with social issues, we lead to more systematic and inclusive conclusions through various ideas and inferences.

 

<Structural-Functionalism vs Conflict Theory >

 

What impressed me was the functionalism and conflict theory that we saw from the macro perspective. Here's what I read : the theory of function and conflict that I understand.

Difficulty explaining rational role sharing of social components

(Personally, I think we can explain the phenomenon like a candlelight vigor that opposes the assumption of power/control in Korea with the theory of conflict.)

Both perspectives broadly look at the phenomenon of society and culture from a macro perspective

 

The reason why I felt this impressive_
 

First of all, I noted that in theory, we understand society as an organism.

In this theory, the idea that the social system contributes to maintaining our society was thought as the idea of contribution of our bodies by internal organs, and I think conception is really unique.

In conflict theory, we were focusing on the unfair parts of our society.

It made a lot of thoughtful thinking about the uneven distribution between classes and social stratum . It was the theory that made me think about differences of fairness and equality (justice) .

 

Understanding the article, I realized that these two ideas are clearly divided in the same macro perspective. Both of these viewpoints were the subject of ' what society looked like ' and also, I could know that ,with these macro perspectives, social institutions, social upheavals, and social structures have dealt in our society .

Therefore, I think the view of this macro-social perspective is a critical perspective of our society . So I had focus on the theory of function and conflict.

In addition, it is important to focus on these macro-theories but we needed a microscopic perspective as well as a macroscopic perspective when we look at society.

 

<After reading_ what I want to share with our class>

 

Let's focus on the feminism part. Especially today, I think that feminism is a social phenomenon and a point of view that is getting attention. In this wrting, it was analyzing one aspect of this 'feminism' through various existing sociological perspectives, which was quite impressive to me. It leads me to expect _the more I learn of sociological theory, my sights of illuminating view point will be wider.

However, from these various perspectives, there arose a question of what would happen if there were conflicting theories between each point of view.

Like the theory of conflict and function, I think there will be conflicting parts in various perspectives combined with various social theories. I wonder about the idea of how to deal with this problem.
