1. Summary

This article briefly introduces the methods adopted by sociologists in social studies.
Among them, scientific method is a particularly important method.
Because 
information will be rejected if it is not supported by evidence gathered using the scientific method.
The scientific inquiry process has the following steps:
Characterization , Hypothesis Development, Prediction, Testing, Evaluation and Iteration.
 Also, this article introduces the attitudes,ethics, methods, and perspectives of research that can vary from researcher to researcher.

In research, it is important not to confuse correlation and Causation.
In order for a variable to cause another, it must meet the following three criteria:

-1- the variables must be correlated.

-2-change in the independent variable must precede change in the dependent variable in time

-3-it must be shown that a different (third) variable is not causing the change in the two variables of interest.

3. Discussion Questions


"How does sociological inquiry move beyond common sense?"


Continuous and endless exclusion of subjectivity, that is, objective scientific research, help us to beyond common sense.
Perhaps it is a work of creating and distributing some kind of evolved common sense.
It can also contain errors, Since society is rapidly changing by research itself or by other factors, it is necessary to start new research.
 It is the duty of sociologists to continue to provide useful theories and tools to understand humans as social beings.
sociologists will continue modifying forever, just like adding a leap second to an atomic time.
