1. Summarize
In Sociological Theory, Many social theories are described.
First, in Introduction, It is important to adopt a social theory that fits the context of each situation.
Also, it is written that All social theories are correct in explaining each social phenomenon.
After explaining why social theories exist (i think), This page explains various social theories.
Structural-Functionalism, Conflict Theory, Symbolic Interactionism, Role Theory, Social Constructionism, Feminist Theory..... As a rule, after explain the characteristics and limitations of each theory, Integration Theory is presented. This page explains that the theory *provides a comprehensive understanding of human social behavior*(Quote from Integration Theory)
2. Interesting
In Limitations of Conflict Theory, It is shown that when combined, the two approaches offer a broader and more comprehensive view of society. I am interested in this and agree. If a person sees the world only with a conflictual viewpoint, There is a risk that he will downplay the social consensus. Even if you look at the world only from a functional point of view, there will be another problem. So, as shown in Integration Theory, to understand comprehensive understanding of human social behavior, having an integrated perspective seems important.

Professor Yoon Youngmin said. sociology is not an academic discipline that only learns in the classroom, but an academic discipline
that is practiced outside the classroom. So I wonder what perspective we should look at in Korea. Someone may look at our country from a conflict-oriented perspective, for example, as the upper-class children get more expensive education and go to college better, on the contrary to this, because someone values society's stability, he can look at our country from a functional point of view. I am curious about the opinions of others.
There may be conflicting cases when applying two or more theories to one subject. And I think the subject of education you present is in this case.
ReplyDeleteWhen the theories collide, it is difficult to reach a consensus on both sides of the equation. As you wondered , I am also curious to know how to make wise choices.
it is hard to reply because your question is very difficult. Simply, only functionalism or conflict is not at all, Along with Korean society, world changes complicated and diversified. In that degree we can observe the more people and know how their behavior affect our society. Yet, our perspective is so narrow. In other words, there are more room for misunderstanding. It doesn't matter what perspectives we have, the most important thing is we must not insist our own perspective.
