1.summary
This text describes sociological theory. In this text, Robert Putnam's theory of civic participation is used as an example for illustration. This theory explains the relationship between TV consumption and citizen participation. Next, there are a large number of sociological theories in the present society, but some high impact theories are explained. For example, Role Theory, Symbolic Interactionism, Structural-Functionalism, Conflict Theory. It explains not only these theories but also the feminism that is attracting attention to people these days.
2.what was interesting
I was interested in role theory. There are many people in society, and many of them carry out their roles. One of the interesting things is that individuals can change their roles. But I do not think you can easily change your role. The greatest interest for me was that personal behaviors and social structures were linked, and that the small impact of individual actions could affect a large social structure.
3.Discussion point
See an explanation of role theory. Explain that role expectations for secretaries are not expected for football players. But I do not know if there is such a distinction in Korea these days. There must be a lot of skills to get a job. For example, at a convenience store these days, you can buy things, keep a courier, and even cook. So the owner of the convenience store needs a person who has the ability to do these things at the same time. Over time, I think that it is time for one person to take charge of various roles rather than one role. I want to know your thoughts.
I agree with your opinion. In order to reduce personnel expenses, business owners want to hire fewer workers and make them do a lot of work. Therefore we must be able to do many works at same time to get a job. I think that this is different from the role theory.
