I could see how sociologists study religion in terms of religion. I am an atheist now, I think I can do well in religious studies with neutral perspective. I also learned about which religion has certain social meanings.

If the religion's traditions do not conform to social ethics like honor killing in muslim, Does the religion have to be banned by national? I think the religion should be banned. There are many different kinds of religions in the world, and there are others who do not have religion. Forcing the wrong customs of a religion is harming other people.

As for your question, I think that religion not following social ethics should be banned.
ReplyDeleteI respect other people 's religion, but I think that religion that does unethical acts such as honor killings ruins our society. Therefore, the religion should be formulated at the national level.
It is interesting that you and I are in a similar kind of anxiety. I also think that religion that harms others (Like the honor killing you mentioned) should be regulated to some extent. Although Freedom of religion is important to man, It must be realized as long as it respects human dignity.
ReplyDeleteI have a slightly different idea compares to you. I think we don't have a right to ban any religion. Of course forcing their norms to whom not believing in specific religion is not a right thing. Also, honor killing is definitely not acceptable. But I think if the religion has a part which is not acceptable in other people who doesn't believe that religion, they could fix that part. I know that some religions do not want to be changed and they tend to not listen to other people. But personally, I think banning such religion only make a situation worse.
