Introduction to Sociology/Economy/Heechan Kim

1.Summary

This article sociologically tells almost everything about the economy as its title implies. Starting with the concept of economy, we could see capitalism and socialism, which are very socially important in history and economy.
In the capitalist part, it showed how capitalism began historically, and the basic necessities of capitalism, and even gave a voice of criticism against it. In the socialist part, each continent shows an example and explained socialism easily.

2.What was interesting

The most interesting part of what I read was the informal economy part. I think it is very unusual that the economy itself is not interfered with by the government. If you think that it is an unofficial economy, you can recall the bad things such as illicit drugs, but it is not only that but also good examples.

3.Discussing point

Critics of capitalism in the article said that capitalism will inevitably destroy and deplete the limited resources and environments of the planet. But it is doubtful whether this is really capitalism. Of course, it does not matter at all that the fundamental nature of human greed influenced capitalism, but it would be too hasty if it confirms that the depletion of resources is due to capitalism.
I think that the depletion of the earth resources will inevitably face each other regardless of capitalism. Your thought is?

Comments

  1. I agree with your idea. I also think that it would be too hasty to ascertain that the depletion of resources is caused by capitalism. And I think that the depletion of Earth resources will inevitably bump into one another regardless of capitalism.

  2. It may be a logical jump that only capitalism, earth's resources run out. But I personally think that capitalism can partly affect the depletion of resources. Only developing for one's own profits lead to exhaustion of resources although not intended. Of course capitalism can't keep when resources exhausted, but I think that even though national intervention or agreement of nations is treat against to capitalism.
