Introduction to sociology / Economy / Jaehyeon Seo

1. Summary
The economy is the way that humans use to meet their needs. On the economic system, there are representative capitalism and socialism. Capitalism admits individual private property, but socialism does not recognize individual private property for equality. Capitalism is criticised for its inequalities, and socialism is criticized for failing to guarantee the political and economic freedom of the general public due to social control.

2. What was interesting/What did you learn
Criticism of socialism is interesting. I think socialism is theoretically ideal. But society is a place where humans live with their own free will. All human freedoms should be respected and protected. But I think socialism overlooks it.

3. Discussion Point
In Korea capitalism, the rich and poor are intensified. What can be done to solve this problem?

Comments

  1. I think that government should try to work for the poor.
The rich have to pay taxes as much as their income.
I think the government should provide the poor with jobs or provide a living place.
For such a system, the government must firmly prevent tax evasion of the rich.

  2. I think to solve the gap between rich and poor, the national welfare policy is necessary. The government have to make a policy to increase the middle class. And I think people need social consideration.
