Introduction to sociology / Culture / Seo Jeong Woo

1.summary

This document describes cultural categories and cultural studies, as well as cultural sociology studies.
and shows High culture such as ballet and sub cultures
,and views of culture (Ethnocentrism,Cultural relativism).
also we can know about One of the most important approaches to understanding, integrationist model advocated by Ritzer, and cultural changes.

2.new/interesting

The most interesting thing was the integrated attention model.
The east and west of the integrated model represent the subjective and objective viewpoints, while the north and south represent the macro and micro perspectives.
I found it fascinating that applying a cultural sample to this model resulted in a classification based on the magnitude and recognition of the culture.
also, after i saw Ethnocentrism and Cultural relativism in document,
It has become a motivation to find some theories, such as cultural populism or creationism.

3.discussion

As mentioned in the document, there are many things in overseas cultures such as Biker and Bronnies.
But unlike high-culture cultures, there are many sub-cultures that don't really understand the culture of the people in Major culture.
Several subculture (BDSM,Wapanese, etc) has caused a visual psychological damage to many people on the Internet, either obscene postings or actions.
Because of these cultures, I would like to discuss how far we can respect and understand subcultures.
