Introduction to Sociology/Stratification/doeun lee

1.     Summary

Stratification means that hierarchical arrangement of society, especially economic inequality means that people are differentiated by property. Capitalism is an important part of the economic inequality, and the sum of power, wealth, and prestige is used as indicators.

The beginning of this inequality was amassed by the accumulated wealth of surplus capital in around 5,000 BC, and the development of private property and private property in Europe, and the spread to the world.

The reason why this inequality lasts so far is that the first and the wealthy support it as beneficiaries of inequality. They also have the resources to protect themselves. Second, culture teaches and encourages acceptance of inequality. Third, the difference in inequality of inequality in education is that much of society protects and encourages inequality.

2.     New/Interesting things I learned

I think dependency is the most interesting and understandable part of the theory explaining the causes of global inequality. The need for wealth in rich countries, the need for money in poor countries, continues to lead to economic inequality.

3.     Discussion point

Incredibly, the average difference between racial and ethnic groups in the United States is huge. Is this a normal phenomenon? I think this matter isn’t a negligible problem. However, from the perspective of the structuralism perspective, layering and inequality seem inevitable and beneficial to society. I can relate to this claim. It is also natural for a person who does more valuable work to gain more. It is a complicated and difficult problem. I wonder what the students are thinking.

  1. As you mentioned earlier, it seems to have been difficult to answer correctly, but if i talk about personal opinions, the average difference between racial groups that lasted a long time may have been more natural when we thought there is a vertical relationship between races. It is a phenomenon that has been passed down, and i believed that it will not be a phenomenon that is now marked by racial groups.
