Introduction to Sociology / Q&A (17.11.13) / SUBIN KIM

Q. Is Korea becoming multiethnic? Why?

A.
South Korea is becoming increasingly multiethnic. This is certainly not South Korea's only half. Unlike the closed and conservative past, it welcomes the influx of foreigners and policies are also competitively expanding. Furthermore, the world has become more connected and more connected than before. They are increasingly interested in each other and actively communicate with each other and move toward a multiethnic society.

Q. Which form of nationalism is more common in Korea?

A.
It tends to be more biased toward ethnic nationalism. In Korea, most of them are made up of a single ethnic group and tend to treat ethnic Korean as more Korean than foreigner Korean. It seems that the same appearance and impressions of Koreans have become more visible to Koreans, so that they can not fully adapt to multi-cultural things, as they have lived in the same country as a long time.
