Introduction to Sociology/Politics/Hyeonjik Kim

1. Summary

On this page, the concept of politics and the things used in politics (power, authority, and violence mentioned in the page) are written. This page also mentions various forms of government that are essential for politics (An example is the monarchy system adopted in most Western countries from ancient times to the Middle Ages, and the democracy that most countries choose in modern times). Like the government, political parties are also mentioned. However, this 'political party' is described differently from the government mentioned above. This article uses the two countries as an example of political parties. The reason why this article illustrates two countries, the United States and Sweden, is probably because the United States and Sweden can best show the characteristics of modern political parties. In addition, the inequalities we learn as a very important subject in sociology are also mentioned this page. In the 'Voting Patterns and Inequality' part, which draws on the charts, it is suggested that inequality related to various factors such as gender, age, and race. At the end, the political ideology gap between people is explained.

2. Interesting point

I liked social studies in my high school days. Politics was also included in social studies, so I was interested in it. But I did not know much about politics, and it is interesting to know what I did not know before in the political parties of this page.

3. Dicussion

In 'voting Patterns and Inequality' part, It is shown that young people in America are less likely to vote than elderly people. On this page, the United States is taken as an example, but Korea also has lower participation rates of young people than older people. So why is the rate of participation of young people in these countries so lower than the elderly? Is it simply a pleasure-seeking reason to have more fun than voting? I just hope it does not happen for that reason, and I seek your opinion.

Comments

  1. I think there are many various reasons. However, choose one reasons for that at my sight, I select deliberate voting. Korean young people say "Every politician is not for us. So, why I vote to them?" or "The pledge is a lie, politicians will not think about the youth after the election." Of course, This is not a positive phenomenon. But, it is a real problem that these emotions spread throughout the youth.
