1. Summary
In the world we live in, people are evaluated differently on different standards. However, this is not simply different, but it is often the case that the class is divided. For example, a college graduate receives a relatively higher salary than a high school graduate. Even if you do the same thing, the salary of a man is more than the salary of a woman. As in this case, where social members are important here, the value is distributed to any group, and less is distributed to another group. This same inequality, in this chapter, focuses on the economy (and the fact that the economy stands out means capitalism is involved)
Max Weber presented three main aspects for representing social class or socioeconomic status. This is Power, Property and Prestige. Power is the ability to act on his own will, regardless of the will of others. This is called coercion. Property means the total amount of your property and regular income. Prestige means reputation or respect for the status in society. The higher the reputation (through job or gender), the higher the social class. These three concepts may exercise great force when combined. But sometimes people with low reputation get high income.
2. New/Interesting things I learned
I have confirmed that the sustainability of inequality is protected by the wealthy strong. Of course, everyone gets help from the country. It is the same with rich people. So, there may be various cases, however, I think in most societies the process of maintaining wealth by a wealthy power is inevitably laid out in a law that makes the poor poorer.
3. Discussion point
I am thinking of the possibility that this may be a problem in the social structure. Could this perhaps be the most basic law and welfare problem? If change the law right away, it can bring another inequality to the wealthy group. I want to think about this. How to break invisible stairs and become a smoother society.
